concerns about the devastating impact of diabetes in the African-American
population.
- Shriners as Mentors (SAM)
- SAM provides at-risk and high-risk African -American male youths a forum
to improve educational deficiencies. PHSF will award grants to Prince
Hall Shriners, at the local, county and state level, to provide mentoring
and tutoring in critical academic disciplines to "at-risk" and "high-risk"
African-American male youth. Local volunteer tutors, counselors and college
students will be encouraged to assist with this initiative.
- Student Aid (SA) - SA assists low-income students who have achieved academic success in high school. PHSF will award grants for such items as books, transportation, clothes and tuition (scholarships) to attend colleges/universities or specialized trade schools.
